Delhi wali aloo ki chat / Delhi style potatoes is a spicy and tangy potato dish. We need very few ingredients and a few minutes to make these delicious potatoes!
Chat is one of the many street foods that every Indian I know loves! This dish is known by several names and is made in several styles throughout the country. The chat dish I am going to share with you all today is native to India’s Capital Delhi.
What makes Delhi Style potatoes so special?
I am a huge fan of potato snack dishes especially when it is street food! This can be done with boiled/ baked/ deep-fried/shallow fried potato. I have shared my baked potatoes version here. It is a very easy, comforting, spicy and tangy recipe perfect for any day!
Delhi wali aloo ki chat / Delhi style potatoes recipe:
Serves 2
- Potatoes – Peeled and cubed big – 2 cups
- Salt – 1/4tsp
- Ginger – grated – 1/2tsp
- Onion – minced – 1/4cup
- Black salt – 1/8tsp
- Red chili powder – 1/2tsp
- Cumin powder – 1/4tsp
- Green chilies – minced – 1/2tsp
- Lemon juice – 1/2tbsp
- Cilantro leaves – 1 tbsp minced.
- Date-Tamarind chutney / Green Chutney (optional) – as per taste*
- Oil – 1tsp
- First, preheat the oven to 350F
- Next, coat the potatoes uniformly with oil and bake potatoes in the oven for 30 minutes.
- Later increase the oven temperature to 450F. This helps potatoes to get crispy skins.
- Once the oven temperature rises to 450F, turn the oven off and remove the potatoes.
- Now, let the potatoes cool down a little bit.
- Place them in a bowl and toss them with rest of the ingredients.
*Date-Tamarind chutney / Green chutney can be added for additional flavor, if you don’t like it or if you don’t have it on hand, you can leave it out. For the recipes of the chutneys click on the words at the beginning of the sentence.
