Muj Chutin, though the name sounds different, it is a very simple condiment native to Jammu & Kashmir. It tasted very good with most of the Indian breads like
WHAT MAKES RADISH – WALNUT CHUTNEY SO SPECIAL?
I like this radish-walnut chutney for many reasons. It barely needs any prep work, it is quick to make. The flavors are so rich and delicious. Apart from all this, we can store it in the fridge for atleast 3-4 days. So I was able to serve with dinner and breakfast. One less thing to do!
Muj Chutin / Radish Walnut Chutney Recipe
- Radish – grated – 1/2 cup (Preferably red)*
- Yogurt – 3/4 cup**
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin – 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp***
- Green Chili – 2***
- Cilantro – 1/4 cup
- Walnut – Soaked for 1-2 hrs – 1/2 cup
- Onion – 1 tbsp
- Water – 1 tbsp
- First, place all the ingredients except grated radish and yogurt in a blender.
- Next, blend the ingredients coarsely. The ingredients should not be chunky or like a liquid but somewhere in between.
- After that, place the blended mixture in the serving bowl.
- Later, fold in yogurt and grated radish.
- Then, mix until ingredients are distributed evenly.
- Lastly, serve with the main course like roti or crepes.
*In the original dish, daikon radish is used, I like the pink radish better, but you can use a radish of your choice. **Greek yogurt is the preferable for this, but you can use any yogurt. The texture may change with the yogurt. ***If you eat less spice, you can add one of two or add less of two. You can customize the quantity and type of spice as per your taste.
