How to make Paratha:
Paratha is a stuffed flatbread that is toasted on the griddle. The outer layer of the parathas are made with whole wheat flour (Atta) and there are different kinds of fillings. I will be sharing different kinds of Parathas in future posts.
Step by Step procedure to make Paratha with pictures:
- First, roll the dough into equal balls. The dough ball should be at least twice as big as the ones we make for roti. Next, make smaller balls of the stuffing as shown in the picture below and keep it aside
- After that, put some dry flour on work surface, coat a dough ball in dry flour, place the dough ball on the work surface and flatten the corners of the dough ball with
rolling pin as shown in the picture below.
- Next, place the stuffing ball in the center as shown in the picture below.
- Later, pinch the flat ends together in such a way that stuffing is no longer exposed.
- Sprinkle some more dry flour over work surface if required, coat dry flour all over the dough ball, flatten the dough ball into a circle using rolling pin with very light pressure. If you put too much pressure, the filling will come out and it’ll make it very hard to work.
- While rolling, sprinkle some dry flour on the flatbread when you feel it is sticking to the work surface and flip the flatbread after sprinkling the flour and roll again until it is 1/8th in thick.
- Once done toast it on tawa or pan on medium heat for 1-2 mins on both sides with some ghee or oil or butter and serve.
