Hey Friends! Today’s blog post about spiced buttermilk is really special for me, it is my first guest blog post I wrote for Polkadotsandcurry.com, this is an awesome website with so much information about different things, guys you should check out this website. Before I share this recipe with you I would like to thank Monika who gave me a chance to write for her blog.
To tell you about this recipe this is a very common refreshing summer drink, which is so low in calories and is totally good for health as it keeps you full for long time, it is mostly water so it keeps you hydrated, because of its awesome ingredients we can have it more than once in a day. Back home, in summer, when guests come home or when kids come home from school, we don’t offer sodas or juice, but we offer this buttermilk. I almost forgot to tell you, Indian style butter milk is yogurt diluted with water and it is added with some flavors. In other words, it is diluted savory lassi. So let’s get started!
Here is what we’ll need : (serves 3-4)
- Ginger -1 tsp
- Cumin – 3/4 tsp
- Jalapeno -1/2 tsp
- Yogurt -1/2 cup
- Water – 1.5 cups
- Salt – to taste
- Pepper – a pinch
Here is how we’ll do it :
- Make a coarse paste out of ginger, cumin and jalapeno and keep it aside.
- Place yogurt in a bowl and whisk it till smooth.
- Then add water little by little and keep whisking simultaneously.
- Once done, add the ginger paste and salt and pepper.
- It is best served chilled, else add some ice just before serving.
Tips :
- While adding jalapeno remove seeds completely and add. Else it will become too spicy.
- According to above measurements, the buttermilk is not spicy and is perfect for kids too. But if you want you can eliminate jalapeno. You can use any other green chilly in place of jalapeno.
- I used whole milk yogurt for this, but you can use anything you want.
