Jeera rice (Punjabi Style) is a simple rice dish which needs only 7 ingredients and only a few minutes to prepare!
When it comes to grains and carbs, rice is my favorite, because it is comforting and it’ll go with almost any side dish. But sometimes, I do get bored of eating plain old white rice and it is not possible for me to cook grand flavored rice during the weekday. So jeera rice is the best alternative for me as it is a family favorite dish.
There are many recipes out there for this dish which use whole garam masala like bay leaf, cardamom, cloves etc, but I have developed this recipe as done in the state of Punjab with only 2 kinds of cumin. I like to keep it that way, as I like it when the pure and delicate flavor of cumin comes through cumin rice.
What makes Cumin rice so special?
I love to make this rice because of its simple ingredients, refreshing flavor and of course, basmati rice. I love to make this on a weekday and it works perfectly as a side for parties and potlucks.
